ATO Lodgment Deferrals for
Flood Affected Areas

Following devastating flooding and storms across QLD and NSW the ATO have announced financial and tax relief measures, with the understanding that tax may not be the number one priority at this time.

For small business and individual taxpayers in affected local government areas in QLD and NSW who were due to lodge Business Activity Statements and Instalment notices on 28 Feb 2022 or 21 March 2022, these statements can now be submitted up until 28 March 2022. You do not need to request a lodgment deferral.  Be aware that the ATO system will still reflect the original due date until lodgment has occurred.  Penalties may automatically generate as a result until the ATO are able to remit these.

The ATO will assess further lodgment deferrals on a case-by-case basis for those taxpayers still unable to lodge by 28 March 2022.  In this situation an actual request is required to be made.

The Australian Gov. Disaster Recovery Payments (AGDRP) and the Disaster Recovery Allowance (DRA) may be available if you have been affected by floods.

See Disaster support from other agencies via the button below for information about payments and support available in a disaster.
